A 24-year-old carpenter died after he fell from the tenth floor of an under-construction building in Gunjur near Varthur on Wednesday.

The deceased, Rajath Barman, a native of West Bengal, was working at the building of Aditya construction.

His brother Amit Barman filed a negligence complaint against Avinash from Aditya Construction, project manager Vishal, site supervisor Ramu and contractor Alok. Varthur Police booked all of them under IPC section 304 A (causing death due to negligence) and investigating the case.

The 11-storied building is coming up in Gunjur and Rajath had been part of the crew as a carpenter for eight months. He had also been staying in the building.

On May 22, Rajath fell to the ground while on his way to the 10th floor after having lunch. He was rushed to the hospital and died there.

Amit said the building had no support through its stairways and the builders did not provide any safety for the workers, which caused his brother’s death. He sought legal action against the builders.
