Complaints flood Bescom

The heavy downpour on Thursday night created a havoc in the City with many trees uprooting, water logging and power cuts in many areas. Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom) received 4,100 complaints since Thursday night due to the heavy downpour.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department officials, Bangalore City received 56.6 mm, HAL recorded 54.6 mm and the Kempegowda International Airport recorded 3.9 mm of rainfall.

Though southwest monsoon has hit Kerala coast, Bangalore is yet to experience the monsoon showers.

As many as 42 complaints of disruption in power supply due to damage to electric lines and poles were reported. The officials said complaints continued to pour in on Friday as in many areas transformers had developed glitches.

The maximum number of complaints were reported from Bangalore west, followed by Bangalore south.

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) control rooms were flooded with complaints.

The highest number of complaints were reported from Bangalore west, followed by south.

Over 30 tree fall complaints were registered across the City, including Raj Bhavan Road, HMT Circle, Sanjaya Nagar, Basavanagudi, Nagapura, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Munneshwaranagar, Vasanth Nagar, Jeevanbimanagar, Seshadripuram, Rajajinagar, Shivanahalli, Peenya, Peenya Industrial area, Laggere, BSNL Layout, Mattikere, Koramanagala, Madiwala, Jayanagar and Jalahalli.

Complaints of waterlogging in residences and footpaths were reported from Laggere, Indiranagar slum, Malleswaram, Okalipuram, Frazer Town, Kumarapark West, Srirampura, RPC Layout and Kumarapark West.

People had a tough time draining out stormwater that entered their houses.
