It’s official. The scion of the erstwhile royal family of Mysuru, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, will marry Trishika Kumari during a five-day elaborate ceremony beginning June 25.

Announcing this to reporters here on Saturday, Yaduveer’s mother Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said, “The wedding is slated for June 27 during the auspicious ‘karkataka lagna’ and ‘savitra’ muhurat between 9.05 am and 9.35 am at the kalyana mantapa inside the Mysuru palace.”

Yaduveer was engaged to Kumari, the second daughter of Maharaj Kumar Harshwardhan Singh of Dungarpur and Rajkumari Maheshree Kumari, much before he was adopted by Pramoda Devi.

The royals had intended to set up giant screens outside the palace, but are awaiting permission from the police, Pramoda Devi said.  “Owing to space constraints in the kalyana mantapa, around 550 invitees are expected for the wedding (on June 27) and over 2,000 for the reception on June 29. The second reception will be held at the Bengaluru palace on July 2 from 8 pm onwards,” she added.

Pramoda Devi Wadiyar has designed the wedding attire for her son Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.

Answering a query, she said, “The invites, along with my personal letter, have been sent to the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi. I have personally invited Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and sent invitations to his cabinet colleagues.”

Apart from VIPs from different parts of the state and the country, mostly royal families, foreign delegates like consuls general of France, Germany, Switzerland and the United States are expected for the main ceremony.

Dress code and menu
As per the invite, dress code for invitees is either white or black long coat, white trousers, valli and turban or lounge suit.

Even though the VIP guests from north to south and east to west will descend on the palace for Yaduveer’s wedding, they will be treated with sumptuous south Indian fare.
