Land swap by defence ministry, BBMP today

The defence ministry will hand over properties in ten locations to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for various infrastructure projects on Tuesday.

Recently, the defence ministry had accorded working permission for the transfer of defence lands to the BBMP with certain conditions. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will preside over the land swap and lay the foundations for various projects in Modi Garden, DJ Halli, east Bengaluru.

The land swap was agreed upon by H D Kumaraswamy and Nirmala Sitharaman at a meeting in Bengaluru on August 4, 2018.

The move would help at least 10 projects, including widening of roads and flyovers, some of which are under construction or have been in limbo for several years, as defence agencies until now had refused to part with their lands.
