Mayor to optimally use discretionary funds

Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun on Monday said the discretionary funds sanctioned to the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor will be utilised to the optimum.

She said discretionary funds amount to Rs 906.24 crore, of which Rs 175 crore is to the Mayor and Rs 50 crore is with the Deputy Mayor, which will be sanctioned immediately during spot inspections. According to the Mayor the focus and preference will be the 110 villages. She said that over the years, not more than 35-40% of the budget schemes have been implemented. As per the recent audit, around 57% of the previous budget is implemented. This time the idea is to increase it. Some schemes listed are new.

According to the Mayor, the top five schemes were setting up air purifiers across the city, setting up dialysis centres, Annapoorneshwari programme, developing areas adjoining the solid waste management units in Bommanahalli, Mahadevapura, Byatarayanapura, Yelahanka, Yeshwantpur and landscaping the city.
