NCB officials seize 222 kg of marijuana

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials on Wednesday nabbed three persons from Andhra Pradesh and recovered 222 kilograms of marijuana which they were transporting to Maharashtra. Based on a tip-off, a car was intercepted at Devanahalli toll gate and the drugs were found concealed in packets and stuffed in the boot space of the car.

According to NCB officials, the kingpin of the racket, Anumulu Prasad, said that he sourced the contraband from Vishakhapatnam and was transporting to Maharashtra for delivery. He employed two persons to drive the car, identified as M Ramakrishna and K Rajesh, offering Rs 10,000 for the trip.

The accused further said that he was going to Maharashtra via Telangana, but since the security was heightened due to the elections, he had taken the Bengaluru route. They have taken Prasad into their custody for five days to identify the source of the drugs.

The Mico Layout police have arrested three persons while selling drugs to college students and techies on Wednesday and seized 12 kg of marijuana from them.

Vishnuvardhan (23) and Rajesh (22) from Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh and Juned Ahmed (24), a resident of Bannerghatta are the arrested suspects.

The police said Vishnuvardhan and Rajesh would get ganja from Kurnool with the help of Ahmed at a lower price and sell it for a higher price to customers in the surrounding areas of BMT Layout and Bannerghatta Road.
