Paulose II, who is the Catholicos of the East, will be honoured with an imperial reception that is being accorded to him under the aegis of the Bangalore Diocese.

Addressing the media, Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church said that it would like to promote harmony between different sects of Christianity. That is why the church has invited the Archbishop of the Catholic church Rev Dr Bernard Moras for the reception, he added.

"There is only one bible and one Jesus Christ. What differs is how we interpret these, and that is where the source of differences in our theology lies", he says.

The Church will also invite leaders of other religions to stimulate dialogue with them. Currently, there are 12 churches within the City limits and ten more in the offing, with a population of 16,000 people.

The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church was founded by St Thomas, one of the 12 apostles of Jesus Christ who came to India in 52 AD. The Church comprises of two million devotees under the leadership of the Catholicos.
