Rider killed while taking selfie

Five persons were killed and six others were injured in four separate accidents in the city.

A man was killed while taking a selfie, riding triple, on his bike near Green Dhaba at Devanahalli on Wednesday morning.

The victim, Sahan, (25), a call-centre employee, was going to Nandhi Hills with Pankaj Kumar and Sourav on one bike. The trio tried to take a selfie and lost control of the vehicle and hit a cab coming from the opposite direction.

The traffic police said Sahan was wearing a half helmet which was not strapped. After he fell to the ground his helmet flew off and he sustained a severe head injury. Other two were not wearing helmets and they too sustained head injuries.

The trio were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Car crushed

In another case, two persons were killed on the spot and two others were injured in an accident involving a car, canter and KSRTC bus on Wednesday early morning near Nelamangala. The deceased are Prajwal (20) and Srinidhi (20), while the injured are Sharath and Ram Das. They were travelling in the car.

The car was following the bus, while goods vehicle was behind the car. The bus abrutly slowed down as the driver applied brakes. Seeing the bus slow down, the car driver applied brakes. The goods vehicle driver failed to slow down and hit the car, said the police. The goods vehicle driver abandoned the vehicle on the spot and fled.

Homemaker killed

In a separate accident on Kalkere Main Road on Tuesday, Saraswati, a resident of Kalkere and a homemaker, was killed on the spot after a tempo mowed her down. She was riding pillion on the bike. The police arrested the tempo driver Mukesh Kumar (22).

Mowed down

Nagaraj, (28), a resident of Maruthi Nagar, was mowed down by a goods vehicle in KS Layout on Tuesday on NICE Road junction. He was returning home when the accident occurred. He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries on Wednesday.
