Ten children escaped after a speeding SUV collided with a school van in V Kallahalli village near Anekal on Monday morning.

A senior police officer said the school van was heading towards Sarjapur Road when a Tata Sumo, coming from Sarjapur, collided with the bus. The driver of the SUV fled the spot. He sustained minor injuries. The children were administered first aid.

10 students in vehicle

The accident occurred around 7.30 am on Monday. The bus belongs to Sadhguru Sainath International School, located in Kudlu near Electronics City. The driver had picked up 10 students and was heading towards the others' homes when the accident occurred.

“The driver of the Sumo was driving in a rash and negligent manner, and this resulted in the accident. Soon after the accident, alert passers-by and local residents rushed to help the children. They took the panic-stricken children to a nearby hospital, and later dropped them off to their school in another vehicle," a senior police officer said.

The driver of the SUV sustained injuries on his face, but fled the spot fearing a sound thrashing by the public, the police said.

The Anekal police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against both the drivers, and have seized the vehicles.
