Security guard stabs wife to death, suspecting affair

Last Updated 12 August 2018, 16:34 IST

A security guard killed his wife suspecting she was unfaithful and later stabbed her mother and sister at their house in Hulimavu on Sunday.

The 25-year-old accused, Abdul Anan, works as a security guard-cum-daily wager at an under-construction site in KR Puram. The police arrested him soon after the incident.

Anan and his wife Sajana Begum (21) hail from Tripura and were living in a rented house in Nyanappanahalli in Hulimavu. Sajana’s parents were living in the adjacent area.

A senior police officer said Anan suspected Sajana was having an affair with her friend Raju from Kolkata.

About 8.30 am on Sunday, Anan picked up a quarrel and, in a fit of rage, stabbed his wife eight times in her stomach and chest with a kitchen knife. Later, he locked his house and went to his in-laws’ residence.

He accused Sajana’s parents of letting her continue the illicit affair despite him warning them. Anan blamed them for not advising her to keep away from Raju. He then stabbed his mother-in-law Amina Begum and sister-in-law Sapna Begum. Both escaped with minor injuries as Sajana’s brother intervened and snatched the knife from the accused and alerted the police.

Anan was arrested soon. Sajana’s brother then admitted his mother and sister to hospital.

According to the police, Anan, in his confession statement, said he warned Sajana to stay away from her friend and also informed her parents to advise her.

He said he decided to kill his wife as well as his in-laws “as nobody listened to him”, they said.
