Shivamogga doc arrested in RGUHS PG exam scam

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested an ENT specialist from Shivamogga in connection with the postgraduate examination scam in Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences  (RGUHS) .

According to the police, the arrested has been identified as Amith P (37), an ENT specialist at McGann Hospital in Shivamogga and also an associate professor in ENT. He had helped three students to clear the RGUHS PG exams by manipulating the answer scripts.
On Friday, Amith, who was arrested from the hospital on Friday, is said to have admitted his role in the crime.

Four days back, another doctor Mohan Venkatraman, a resident of Madurai was arrested. He was found helping Bhagirathi Singh, the kingpin of the RGUHS scam who was arrested in August, said the police.

A senior police officer said, “Both Venkatraman and Amith were arrested based on the information provided by Bhagirathi Singh. More people will be arrested soon in connection with the scam. Amith is being further questioned about his role in the scam. Also, it is yet to be investigated as to how many students were benefitted by Amith,” added the officer.

The RGUHS answer paper scam came to light when a case was registered with the Tilak Nagar police in Bengaluru in June 2014. The case was handed over to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police for further probe.
