Singer Lucky Ali convicted in cheque-bounce case

The 21st Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court has convicted Bollywood singer Lucky Ali in a cheque-bounce case. The court directed Lucky to pay Rs 92 lakh to the complainant, Syed Rizwan, failing which he would be sentenced to six months in jail.

According to the complainant, Lucky approached Rizwan in his capacity as a power of attorney holder of a 9.22-acre land in Yelahanka, which belonged to his brother Masoom Ali. Lucky said he has the authority to sell the land. Rizwan agreed to purchase the land and paid him Rs 92 lakh. But after receiving the advance amount, Lucky failed to execute the sale deed, Rizwan said.

The dispute went before various courts, and finally Lucky agreed to return the money and issued a cheque of Rs 92 lakh, which bounced due to insufficient funds in his account.

After a detailed hearing, the court directed Lucky to pay up or face jail.
