Last Updated 15 September 2018, 19:42 IST

A 23-year-old PUC dropout, who stole at least 32 motorcycles by learning from YouTube how to open their locks in less than a minute, has been arrested by the Chandra Layout police.

Chandrakanth alias Funda, of Koramangala, stole motorcycles parked outside homes in and around the city in the past three months.

He later rode them to Kanakapura and Mandya and sold them for anywhere between Rs 5,000 and Rs 20,000 depending on the condition of the bikes.

A series of motorbike thefts prompted the police to step up patrols. They zeroed in on Chandrakanth. Interestingly, Chandrakanth was arrested by the Ramanagaram police in a similar case and was jailed for one-and-a-half years. But he went back to his old ways after coming out, a senior police officer said.
