The state government has accepted the requests of 4,000 bus drivers for transfer to other road transport corporations (RTCs) within Karnataka, Transport Minister H M Revanna said here on Monday. They will get the transfer orders on January 17, 18 and 19.
A total of 14,000 bus drivers had applied for inter-corporation transfer in the past decade. The government has accepted 4,000 requests. This apart, the government is inking agreements with Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana to ply more buses to the neighbouring states, Revanna said after inaugurating fly bus services from the Kempegowda International Airport to Madikeri and Salem.
The fare for a one-way journey to Madikeri is Rs 1,000 and Salem Rs 800. The buses, costing Rs 1.1 crore each, have toilets.
The KSRTC has been running fly bus services from the KIA to Mysuru and Kundapura (Udupi district) since 2014. As many as 3.90 lakh people have travelled on these buses ever since. The KSRTC plans to expand the service to other cities, Revanna said.
