Two arrested for sexually harassing woman

Two men have been arrested for sexually harassing and stalking a 26-year-old homemaker from Nepal in Ashok Nagar on October 3, 2018.

The arrested have been identified as Infant Idriyaraj and Milan Kumar. Though the police had included a few others as accused along with the duo, the investigation revealed that the others were not involved in the case and were only bystanders, a senior police officer said.

According to the police, the incident happened around 7 pm when the woman, wife of a security guard, was walking back home with her two sons. While she was walking from Nanjappa Circle towards Walker’s Lane in Richmond Town, the accused stalked her and blocked her path pulling her hand and her clothes.

The woman raised an alarm and informed her husband on reaching home. The couple then lodged a complaint at Ashok Nagar police station. The police registered a case and arrested the duo.

They were produced before a magistrate who remanded them to judicial custody. After securing bail they threatened the couple to withdraw their complaint.

The police have taken cognisance of the matter and are investigating.
