The walkway bridge connecting the City Railway Metro Station with platform number 10 of the Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna railway station will be ready in about a month, railway officials said.

The project — a joint project of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) and the railways — has been delayed by several months over financial issues.

Senior railway officials said the work on the bridge started nearly two months ago but was delayed during the polls.

“A major part of the work involves finishing the construction of the cross-section. But we are confident that the project will be completed in about a month.

There are plans to provide a ticket counter at the cross-section. A decision on such facilities will be taken once the civil work is completed,” the official said.

Once commuters exit the City Railway Metro station, they can take the stairs and walk to the platform bridge of the KSR station, a shorter travel when compared to reaching the place from the Kempegowda Metro Station.

The BMRCL, on its part, has taken up the work of installing metal sheets to provide shelter to the entire walkway.

An official said a lift and an escalator will be installed in front of the metro station. “Most of the commuters, who switch to or from the railway station, will carry bags or children. Necessary infrastructure will be in place to ensure their convenience,” he said.
