Will order probe if experts find poor quality: DCM

Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara said Friday he had ordered an inspection of the entire 42-km network of the Namma Metro in the backdrop of a viaduct defect that was identified on the Purple line.

Asked if poor quality of work was behind the viaduct defect, Parameshwara told reporters here: “If experts conclude in their report that quality of work is poor, I will order an investigation.”

He said experts from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had reviewed the situation. “DMRC experts are overseeing the repair work. We also had an expert from the IISc named Prof Srinivas review it. As soon as possible, the repair will be completed. I’ve asked for the entire line to be inspected to make sure this doesn’t happen again. We’re trying everything to make sure there’s no reason for the public to panic,” Parameshwara said.
