Youth dies after bikes collide

A 22-year-old youth was killed after his bike collided with another bike while overtaking a car in Cubbon Park on Tuesday night.

Krishnamurthy and his wife riding the other bike also sustained grievous injuries. Syed, the deceased, was carrying the helmet in hand while riding the bike, the police said.

According to the police, Syed was riding his bike in a rash and negligent manner. He was overtaking a car between KR Circle and the fish aquarium canteen when he collided with Krishnamurthy’s scooter that was coming in the opposite direction. The impact was such that Syed sustained grievous head injuries and was killed on the spot. The couple was thrown away from their bike, but were saved as they were wearing helmets, the police said.
