A 21-year-old youth was stabbed to death and his cousin injured after they were attacked by friends inside their house at Sunkadakatte near Kamakshipalya on Sunday.

The deceased Avinash was a resident of Peenya and native of Kunigal near Tumakuru. His cousin Satish A (28), who suffered injuries, has been admitted to a private hospital. Satish is said to be out of danger.

A senior police officer said the accused have been identified as Rajesh, Abhi and Punith, who are all absconding. The police suspect that a financial dispute might be the motive behind the murder.

According to the police, Rajesh owned a juice shop and he provided accommodation to his employees, including Avinash, Satish, Abhi and Punith, at Srinivasa Nagar on Magadi Road.

On Sunday night, after dinner, Avinash and Satish had gone for a walk and returned to the room to sleep. Punith and Abhi refused to share the blanket and the four began to quarrel. In a fit of rage, Punith and Abhi attacked them with a knife.

Hearing the commotion, the neighbours came out and saw Avinash and Satish in a pool of blood. They were immediately shifted to hospital, but Avinash succumbed to his injuries.

The Kamakshipalya police visited the hospital and recorded the statement of Satish, and have formed a special team to nab the absconding suspects.

The investigation further revealed that on the night of the incident, the victims and the accused had a dispute over a financial issue at Srinivasa Nagar Circle. During the fight, the accused had threatened to kill Avinash and had even bought weapons from the City Market. Investigations are on and the police are waiting for the post-mortem report.
