Last Updated 11 January 2019, 20:57 IST

The teenager who tried to kill himself by jumping on the tracks at the National College metro station on Friday is stable and recuperating at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience (Nimhans).

K Sekar, Registrar, Nimhans, said the person was brought to the hospital with bruises on his head. A thorough physical examination, including the CT scan, showed he had no internal injuries. “He only suffered bruises on the head, which have been taken care of. He is in a state of shock and has been referred to the psychiatry department. He is under observation and will be in the hospital for a few days,” he added.

The teenager’s mother, who visited him in the hospital, is also in a state of shock. It will take them some time to open up and talk to the psychiatrists. Until then, he will be in the hospital and will be treated on priority, Dr Sekar said.
