After a youth's forearm was chopped off by two people near Suvarnamukhi Temple in Bannerghatta forest area on Tuesday evening while on a walk with his friend, a woman constable, the Bannerghatta police have formed a special team to nab them.

Raveesh (23), an electrical contractor from Yarandahalli near Anekal, along with his friend visited Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple near Suvarnamukhi temple tank and later went on a walk near the forest. Around 6.30 pm, two people approached them and chopped off Raveesh’s forearm and took it along with them while fleeing.

Preliminary investigation reveals that Raveesh, a native of Madhugiri in Tumakuru district, had come to the city nine years ago and was staying with his brother Shivakumar in a rented house in Yarandahalli. The woman, a traffic police constable, was his neighbour from the same district.

In 2016 he came in contact with her and both fell in love. However, her parents opposed their marriage as they belong to different castes and forced her to marry another man. But she later filed for divorce over marital discord and grew close to Raveesh.

Police suspect that the miscreants might be her family members or her husband's friends. They also snatched his mobile phone and purse after chopping his forearm.
