CM announces Rs 100 cr for rain relief works

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said that Rs 100 crore will be released to take up rain relief works in Kodagu district.

Speaking to media persons on Thursday night, he said that the district administration has estimated Rs 329 crore to take up relief works in the district. The amount will be released in a phased manner, he
added.

He said some people feel that the government has neglected the Kodagu district. “The government has been constituted for the comprehensive development of the state. I have directed the officials to sanction Ashraya house along with a compensation of Rs 95,000 to those who lost their houses in the fury of rain. The farmers who have lost paddy seedlings will be given seeds free of cost,” he said.

He said he has directed the officials to collect complete details on the loss incurred by coffee growers.

Earlier in the meeting, the MLAs said that the Forest Department officials are posing hurdles to the work on the road. PWD Minister H D Revanna directed the officials to file an FIR against such officials.

The chief minister said that the district has received 47% more rain this year. The DC’s account has Rs 10 crore which can be used for immediate works, he said.

Kalera Fathah, A Class 8 boy of Emmemadu village who had created a video pleading Chief Minister Kumaraswamy to provide relief to the rain-affected Kodagu farmers, said that he is happy over the chief minister’s visit to the district.
