Come up with new ideas for Dasara:DC

Ahead of Mysuru Dasara 2018, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, also Dasara Special Officer, directed the officials to come up with new and innovative ideas to make the event attractive. Dasara 2018 will be celebrated from October 10 to October 19.

In a meeting, here on Saturday, Sankar said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has directed to organise the Dasara Jamboo Savari in an attractive way.

Sankar asked the officials to come up with new innovative ideas to make the Dasara a grand success and tourist-friendly.

The DC said that the Dasara Sub-committees will be formed after the Dasara Executive Committee meeting.

He said that a dance programme with judo performance, martial arts can be organised along with cultural programmes during the torchlight parade, the final leg of Dasara celebrations, in Bannimantap Stadium.

The DC suggested the use of crackers with no smoke that were used in the Commonwealth Games and other sports activities to check air pollution.

Sankar urged the officials to plan programmes that lure the tourists and also directed to print Dasara invitations 15 days prior to the commencement of Dasara.

Highlighting about the illumination of the city, the DC said, a score of citizens and environmentalists are opposing illumination on trees which harm birds. He asked the authorities to take measures to illuminate the city without harming the ecosystem, including the birds.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) P Shivashankara, Additional Deputy Commissioner T Yogesha, Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikram Amte, Mysuru Urban Development Authority Commissioner P S Kantharaju, Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner K H Jagadish and Deputy Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Siddaramappa Chalkapure were present.
