Cong disrespecting martyrdom of soldiers: BJP leader

Last Updated 08 March 2019, 18:12 IST

Congress, unable to accept the truth of surgical strike and airstrike, has plunged into petty politics over Pulwama attack, BJP district unit general secretary H D Thammaiah said.

Addressing reporters here, on Friday, he said, “The Congress had stooped so low as to disrespect the martyrdom of our soldiers only to cover the failure of its leaders.”

Thammaiah said, “It was former prime minister late Jawaharlal Nehru who made Kashmir a disputed land. In a shameful gesture, leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Digvijay Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu have been batting for Pakistan.”

Ridiculing the recent comment by former chief minister Siddaramaiah, he said that Siddaramaiah need not have to fear the people wearing ‘Tilak’.

“Is Siddaramaiah not a Hindu?” he asked and said it was obvious that the former chief minister was involved in vote bank politics and was only trying to appease a section of the population.

BJP Spokespersons Varasiddhi Venugopal said the people were being sensitised by the party workers about the pro-development works done by Modi government.

Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming Parliamentary elections. Party leaders will meet booth workers from March 11 to 15, he said.

Names of Shobha Karandlaje, Jayaprakash Hegde, Mattaru Ratnakara Hegde and D N Jeevaraj are in the forefront in the list of ticket aspirants for Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency. The party high command will finalise the candidate soon, he added.

Leaders B G Somashekharappa and Vikrant were present.
