National College, Basavanagudi has carved a niche for itself in the field of education.

This premiere institution, which flourished under the chairmanship of H Narasimhaiah, is a popular choice with students opting for quality education.

Every student, who joins the college, is aware of the rich legacy of the institution and is proud of availing the service rendered by Narasimhaiah, who shaped the destinies of thousands of students in various capacities.

As soon as one enters the campus, one can experience the amicable relationship between the students and faculty members.

“We never hesitate to clear our doubts with the lecturers who patiently answer all
our queries even if they are silly,” says Shanti, one of the students, who also appreciates the ‘no donation’ policy of the institution.

“Thanks to this college, students from poor background have been able to realise their dreams of a higher education. The college has always been a front-runner when it comes to introducing new courses and adopting latest teaching methods. We have a sophisticated language laboratory to train students in communication skills. The Multimedia Hall, built in the name of Narasimhaiah, is also equipped with a video-conferencing facility. We can arrange a video conference with America, Australia and England at a time,” says Sandeep, another student.

Much to the delight of many girls, the college does not have any dress code as such.
“But we know our limits and have imposed a self-restraint, not to wear any indecent attire,’’ states Sushma, a Commerce student.

“The encouragement we get for cultural activities is also tremendous. Throughout the year, we have some function going on in our campus. Now an inter-class drama competition is on, which will culminate with an inter-collegiate drama fest,” she adds.
The college offers various courses from Pre-University to Post Graduation. The newly introduced four-year B S course is in much demand as it is offered by only three colleges affiliated to BU.

Add-on course on Gandhian Studies, Computer Networking course and Post -Graduation courses in Kannada and Computer Science are also offered here.

Waseem Akram, a literature student, has chosen this college for its brand name.
“I have been taking the benefit of experienced senior professors who are adept at dealing with the subjects. This college has produced a number of personalities like Anil Kumble, EAS Prasanna, Chandrashekar, Vishnuvardhan and Ramesh Aravind. Like them, we are also proud to be ‘Nationalites’,’’ says Waseem.
