JOIN USHe was speaking at the inauguration of the workshop on ‘Ornamental fish production and marketing’ organised jointly by Fisheries Department and Vijaya Bank Self-employment Training Centre here on Monday.
Even though ornamental fish production is ignored in the country, he said that the demand for it is very high. It will be profitable to undertake ornamental fish production at homes.
The aquarium business is increasing in profitability. With a turn over of around $ 600 crore, ornamental fish production in the State is dependent on other states, he said.
He said that free training will be provided to interested persons. Apart from this financial assistance will be given, which can be useful for youth and unemployed.
Participants
Around 60 persons from Tumkur, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Kolar, Hassan and Mandya participated in the workshop. Suresh Rao of Vijaya Bank, deputy director of Fisheries Department Dr B R Jagadish, Vijaya Bank’s self-employment department director Basavaraj Bellad were present. Assistant Director of V C Farm Zone Agriculture Research Centre, K T Pandurangegowda presided over the workshop.
