Centre promises fool-proof security

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said he visited the sports venues three times and wished organisers would have done certain things in time which they did not do.

Asked about threats of hijacking, Chidambaram said: “We don’t think any hijacking attempt would take place.” The minister, however, said all reports are being taken seriously. 

On the confusion relating to the use of games lane, he said: “Any one with T-1 card can use CWG lane.”  

Games lanes are strictly a  big  “no-no” for common vehicular traffic or pedestrians who would be fined Rs 2000, their vehicles impounded or sent to jail straightaway.
On the use of Air force, the minister said they have their own ways of doing things and the query should be put to them.
