Elephant electrocuted

According to forest officials, a herd of elephants raided a field where tobacco and chickpea were grown. The farm owner, Srinivas had laid electric fence by drawing power illegally from the main line, to protect the crops.

The elephant accidentally touched the fence and died on the spot. It had suffered  burns on face and trunk portion. The farm owner is absconding.

Deputy Conservator of Forests Vijay Ranjan Singh, Range Forest Officer Basavaraj and ACF Belliappa visited the spot. The postmortem was conducted on the spot.
