Last Updated 07 October 2010, 19:02 IST

With an agenda to give the street an identity of 'Happy Street Mall', the Basavanagudi Merchants Forum (BMF), in association with the Deccan Herald and Prajavani, is all set to promote trade and culture of Basavanagudi and to bring back its glory. Nearly 60 platinum members and over 150 participating members have vowed to turn this dream of BMF into a grand reality.

The whole exercise has certain fields to excel upon like Business Improvement Programmes,   Statutory Tax Laws and IT initiatives and Community Welfare Programmes.
There are business improvement programmes as well in which the BMF will organise Basavanagudi shopping festivals, run cross promotional schemes, conduct workshop in modern retailing, update members' new innovation in retail industries, prepare to compete with malls and to negotiate with banks, insurance and suppliers for better rates.

The BMF has also taken care of the welfare of staff working at the member stores, civic amenities and participation in local festivals. As part of its agenda, the BMF had organised rangoli utsava last month and in future it will participate actively in all the cultural and religious events.

These initiatives would woo the customers also as a lot of bonanzas would be on store for them from time to time. There will be children's week, youth week, women's week and festival weeks.
