Medical Education and District-In-charge Minister S A Ramdas inaugurated the Raitha Dasara and also declared open an exhibition organised for farmers.
The Raitha Dasara to be held until October 13 would beckon ryots for different sporting events being hosted by the dasara organising committee.
The expo at J K grounds has brought different agricultural technologies, the best practices for better yield and production.
The Regional Agricultural Research Centre of Mandya has displayed the different varieties of paddy, ragi and other crops and methods to be adopted for a good yield.
A biofuel stall provided an exposure to farmers on the potentials of bio-fuel from “Honge”, “Hippe”, neem and Jathropa plants.

If the agriculture department showcased best practices and fertilisers and pesticides available for the pests, horticulture department’s display of different hybrid vegetables attracted farmers.
A sweet pumpkin which weighed about 16.90 kg left the visitors to the exhibition awestruck. Apart from displaying plant saplings, the forest department is promoting the cause of social forestry and encouraging people to plant saplings.
The other stalls included shops of sericulture department, silk factory, KMF, department of animal husbandry and seed corporation.
NIE Crest is also holding a demonstration on biogas plant and water purification method developed by it.
Stalls on organic farming agricultural equipment have also come up at the exhibition.
Ramdas interacted with farmers and sought their suggestions for improvement of Raitha Dasara.
Suggestions
The ryots suggested for deputation of more resource persons in the stalls. On the occasion, award winning and progressive farmers were felicitated.
The agriculture department officers who carried out excellent work in their fields were also honoured.
