Govt following court directives on memorials, says Mayawati

“No construction activities are being carried out at the memorials in deference to the orders of the apex court,” Mayawati told reporters after paying floral tributes to BSP founder Kanshiram on the occasion of his fourth death anniversary.

Mayawati dubbed the allegations as “a conspiracy hatched by casteist forces”, who she alleged wanted to tarnish her image. “They will, however, not succeed,” she added.
The chief minister asked the mediapersons to have a look around the Kanshiram Memorial to ascertain the facts themselves.

The BSP supremo also castigated those, who were “against establishing memorials after Dalit icons” and said it reflected their “anti-Dalit mentality”.

Mayawati said Kanshiram always fought for the interests of Dalits and down trodden. She said the state government had initiated several welfare schemes after the BSP founder.
