Karnataka ride on Agarwal heroics

Last Updated 15 October 2010, 16:37 IST

Having crushed Goa by eight wickets in their opening match, Karnataka scored an equally comprehensive six-wicket win over Andhra at the Gymkhana grounds.Medium-pacer B Akhil took two for 23 and there were two run outs as Andhra, batting by choice, made 143 for six from their allotted 20 overs.

The thrust came from Y Venugopala Rao, who made a match-high 58 (41b, 2x4, 2x6), but apart from ASK Varma (30), there was little support for the skipper. With Agarwal in exceptional hitting form and Ganesh Satish providing very good company, Karnataka were always in control.

Agarwal lashed four fours and two sixes in his 31-ball 57 while Satish was a lot more cautious in making 52 (48b, 2x4, 2x6) as Karnataka raced to 145 for four with eight deliveries to spare.

Tamil Nadu edged out Goa by 19 runs to join Karnataka at the top of the table, while Hyderabad went down by eight wickets to Kerala.
