The fest provides a platform for the student community to hone, challenge and showcase their skills both in technical and managerial fields. The next edition of Kshitij will be conducted from January 28 to 31, 2011. But many of the competitions will be starting in a few weeks time.

Some of the noteworthy points in the last edition of Kshitij included over 40,000 registered participants. There was prize money worth Rs 50 lakh. Over 45 events, guest lectures and workshops were conducted in four days.

There was representation from over 1,200 engineering, managerial and law colleges across India and abroad including all the IITs, IIMs and NITs. Representations from abroad included participation from MIT, Stanford, Princeton University and many others.

There were guest lectures by Shekhar Kapur (Academy Award winner), Jimmy Donal Wales (co-founder of Wikipedia), Prof Anthony James Leggett  (Nobel Prize winner), Prahlad Kakkar, Robin Chase ( Founder of Zipcar), George Kourounis (Host of ‘Angry Planet’).

There were workshops on next generation technologies like 3D animation, Rubik’s cube, hot air ballooning, space sciences and microcontrollers.
