The victim was identified as Suvarnamma (65) from Jyothinagar.
Suvarnamma’s husband Shivaiah, son Prabhuraj and daughter-in-law Manjula had gone out for work when the murder took place.
The suspects who gained entry into the house, strangulated her with a saree, and fled with four gold bangles, rings and chain and absconded. The incident came to light when Manjula returned home, said the police.
Suvarnamma used to lock the house from inside whenever she was alone in the house. She would not open the door when strangers approached her.
Police suspect the handiwork of people who know their family background.
