Two activists of pro-Maoist group killed in Bengal

The two have been identified as Biswanath Mahato and Pradeep Mahato of Nandalalpur area in Jhargram sub-division and were members of the Peoples' Committee Against Police Atrocities (PCAPA), say police .

Police suspect Maoists to be behind the killings. "The modus operandi suggests they have been killed by the rebels for ignoring their diktat," a police officer said. However, the PCAPA spokesperson alleged that the members were dragged out of their houses by Communist-Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) hooligans and shot dead.Maoists are active in three western districts of the state - West Midnapore, Purulia and Bankura.
