The ATS sleuths nabbed Makkhan Singh, a resident of Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district, on Saturday night from Barhni railway station in the district, situated on the sensitive Nepal border, when he was trying to leave for Punjab.

UP additional director general of police Brijlal told reporters here that Singh had gone to Nepal to get a fake passport as he wanted to flee abroad.

Makkhan Singh was a hardcore member of the dreaded Babbar Khalsa outfit and was hatching a conspiracy to trigger blasts in parts of Punjab, Brijlal claimed.

He said that Singh took orders from one Wadhwa Singh, who is the chief of Babbar Khalsa, and operated from Pakistan.

The arrest of Makkhan Singh comes close on the heels of the arrest of Gurjant Singh, also a member of Babbar Khalsa outfit a few days back.
