'Open Day' at AIISH on Oct 29

 The theme of the Open Day is ‘Know about Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Strategies”.

On this day an exhibition of the activities of various departments of the institute will be held for the public. The people can walk into the institute; go through the facilities and see activities. They will be educated on speech production, hearing mechanism, identification and prevention of communication disorders, vocal hygiene and facilities available for individuals with speech and hearing problems. They can also get themselves evaluated on certain aspects of speech language, hearing, reading and writing skills. Further, one can also gain more information about the different AAC devices and strategies which can be used for communication purposes.

In addition, competitions have been organised for high school children and college students and also for children with special needs. Drill your vocabulary, Twist your brain, Read the dots, fingers talk, Use your resources, Riddle me this, Read my lips, Makaton matching, Drawing, (Interaction with speech), Sign and Symbol Identification, Dumb Charade etc., are the competitions for the high school and college students.  For children with special needs Transferring beads, Potato race, Three legged race, Frog Jump, Generative naming, Auditory memory, Hopping race, Bun eating are few of the competitions. Competitions are also planned for parents of these children.

Heads of schools/colleges may send their students to visit and participate in the “Open Day” activities.
