4 gets lifer in Shiroor murder case

In the gruesome murder, Yathish alias Sathish Shetty Doddarangadi was murdered under Hiriyadka police station limits on December 31, 2009.

Delivering the verdict at Fast Track Court hall, Magistrate S L Patil said that after examining all the 24 witnesses and fingerprints that were procured on the weapon seized, has proved beyond doubt that all the four accused have been involved in the murder case.

He said the accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment till death and quoted the judgement of life imprisonment on the judgment involving Swami Shraddhananda murder case. It can be recalled that the four accused Santosh Poojary along with three accomplices Riyaz, Vishwanath Shetty and Surendra Poojary had attacked Yathish alias Sathish Shetty with knife and talwar by following him in a car while he was returning from Doddarangadi towards Udupi on December 31. Yathish died on the way to the hospital. Sathish Poojary was earlier involved in a murder of one Sudhakar Poojary. Speaking to media persons, Public Prosecutor T S Chithoori said that because of the two main witnesses, Ashok Naik, who lodged complaint and the car driver Arun Kulal, besides other 22 witnesses, the case had been proved beyond doubt, he said.
