Acting on a tip-off the police laid a trap and thoroughly checked all the vehicles passing on the Pune-Bangalore national highway with registration numbers from the State and neighbouring states.

On suspicion, a car with a Goa registration number and a press sticker was spotted near the service road near Hindalco factory and the vehicle was taken into custody along with the accused.

SP Sandeep Patil told reporters here on Tuesday that Poonam Vishnoi of Jalor in Rajasthan, Satishkumar Ganiger and Hussainsab Khan of Shahapur in Gulbarga district and Ramsen Purohit of Barmer in Rajathan were arrested with three kilos opium worth Rs three lakh, car used for drug peddling worth Rs three lakh, five cellphones worth Rs 7,000, Rs 3,105 in cash and three gold rings worth Rs 45,000 in their possession.

The four arrested allegedly sold drugs to prospective customers in the city. Registers found in their possession included names of their customers and suppliers.  Peddlers were getting drugs to the city by train through their contacts, he said adding that some of the famed people were their customers and action would be taken against them.
