Official sources said that various agencies have already approached the I-T department for information and sharing of files.

The department, which has in its custody a large number of documents including those relating to the contracts awarded by the Organising Committee of the Games, would share them with various government agencies to streamline the probe, the sources said.
These documents could form the basis of any further cases that could be registered by the ED or even the CBI, they said.

Yesterday, over 300 Income Tax personnel had swooped on more than 50 premises of companies across the country to probe alleged financial irregularities in Commonwealth Games contracts.

A large number of documents including those pertaining to contracts and sub-contracts awarded in connection with the Games have been seized. The department had on October 19 carried out similar searches on four major consortia, including those related to BJP member Sudhanshu Mittal that had bagged contracts worth Rs 700 crore.

The sources said other agencies have also collected a whole lot of information regarding alleged corruption in the Games. The ED has already registered a Foreign Exchange Management Act case in this regard and has started questioning senior OC officials.Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has also received about 20 complaints regarding the Games including some related to overlay works. The agency is already probing the complaints and CBI sleuths had even visited the OC headquarters here in this connection.
