Abducted girl's body found, taxi driver arrested

The girl and her seven-year-old brother, children of a textile merchant in the city, were reported missing while going to school yesterday morning. The driver, who was arrested on suspicion, reportedly confesed to abducting the children for ransom.

However fearing police action and subsequent case, he drove to Pollachi and reportedly threw the students in the waters of PAP canal in Sarkarpathy. The girl's body was found floating near Palladam this morning and a search was on to trace the boy's body, police said.
