<p>Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said it is "wishful thinking" for the US to propose hosting talks on regional peace and development between China, Japan and itself.<br /><br />Ma made the remarks while speaking about the discussions held between Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Hanoi last week.<br /><br />"Having official trilateral talks between China, Japan and the United States is only the wishful thinking of the US side," official Xinhua quoted him as saying.<br /><br />"Both sides discussed strengthening cooperation between China, Japan and the United States, so as to work together for the peace and development of the Asia-Pacific region," Ma said.<br /><br />He said China is looking at all current dialogue and cooperation mechanisms with the hope of making them more effective in promoting peace and development in the region.</p>
