He said here on Sunday: “My cellphone was being tapped the day I became minister and it is the misuse of Police Intelligence by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.” He declared that his fight was against the corruption and not against any individual or community. Addressing a meeting of his supporters from Arabhavi Assembly constituency, he said his present position was due to his efforts in supporting senior minister Jagadish Shettar as chief minister.

Jarkiholi announced that he would contest elections from Arabhavi Assembly constituency, either as a nominee of a political party, or even as an independent if the by-election was held in view of his disqualification. He also claimed that he has been suspended from his MLA post and not disqualified.

Condemning the stand of BJP for waging legal battle against 16 MLAs, including five independents, Jarkiholi expressed confidence that God would be with these 16 disqualified MLAs and the Supreme Court decision would be in their favour. “The minute we get the decision from the apex court, we will approach BJP National President Nitin Gadkari and impress upon him to make Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar as chief minister of the State,” he stated.
