The October Fest attracted talent from all over the country. The Other People, a Mumbai-based old school rock and roll band, got the crowd grooving to some brilliant covers.

The six member band has Zarir Warden on lead vocals, Samuel Berlie on rhythm guitar, Danesh Khambata on drums, Loy on bass guitar, Garth, the youngest of the lot, on keyboards and Gavin Cason on lead guitar.

Zarir is known for his infectious energy on stage which made the band an instant hit with the crowd at the fest.

Samuel and Zarir are the founder members of the band, which started seven years ago.

“We met in college and created the band. The other people joined in as time went by,” says Samuel.

As a band, their popularity increased manifold after they opened for Michael Learns To Rock in the City. “Our agenda is clear — we know what the crowd wants and hence, play stuff that is very commercial,” says Zarir, elaborating on the kind of music they play.

Stressing on the point that they love their audience, Gavin says, “When the crowd pushes us to perform, no one can stop us!”

They are undoubtedly one of the best cover bands in the country.

At the concert, they tackled the Bruce Springsteen number Dancing In The Dark with such finesse that the audience just went wild with delight. It is one of the most difficult songs to play live and they are the only Indian band to attempt the cover and nail it.

Their other numbers included Snow by Red Hot Chilli Peppers; a rather tough number to pull  off.  They also played Break Free by Queen, which had the audience screaming — ‘I Want To Break Free’ — in delight!

Ask them about the inspiration for their original song titled Keep It Going and Zarir says, “I find it very annoying when all some people do in a night club is stare at the others dancing. Keep It Going is a peppy number for people to step up and shake a leg.”

The Other People still don’t have a single record album to their credit but they sure hope that the day is not far away.

About their message to Bangaloreans, they say, “We are super-excited to be here and hope to come back here soon.”

This was the second time the band was here in the City to perform and has already managed to amass a noticeable fan base.
