Candidates fate to be known today

Will Janata Dal (Secular) emerge dark horse toppling all the expectations in the by-elections held to Mysore City Corporation (MCC) from ward no 41?

The answer is just a few hours away with elaborate arrangements made for the counting of votes to be held on November 11.

Counting

Council secretary, MCC, Gayathri who is also the returning officer told Deccan Herald, the counting of votes will begin with the mixing of ballot papers from 8 am, at the building opposite to Election Branch in MCC compound.

If taken into count the total number of 4,757 votes polled against 9,000 odd votes, the result is expected within two to three hours. It may take only two rounds of counting with 150 personnel including a supervisor and three assistant supervisors deployed on the duty.
Three tables have been put up and the number of votes secured by the candidates will be announced through mike after every round.

All the gates of the MCC will be closed and barricades have been put up to ensure fool proof process.

BJP has fielded R Srinivas, Congress- R Raveendra Kumar, Janata Dal (Secular) S R Swamy, while J Kiran Kumar and Annaiah Swamy are contesting as independents.

The by-polls was necessitated following the disqualification of BJP Corporator B Narayanappa owing to a court verdict.
