Find your books at B'lore Book Fest

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development S Suresh Kumar, Kannada Book Authority Chairperson Siddalingaiah and Department of Kannada and Culture Secretary Jayarameraje Urs will inaugurate the 10-day-long book fair.

The exhibition, jointly organised by the Bangalore Book Sellers and Publishers Association and Klub Class, will be open from 11 am to 8 pm. An interesting feature of the fair is the cultural events, which will be held at Prof Kee Ram Nagaraj Vedike everyday from 6 pm.

Over a million titles will be on display this year and more than two lakh people are expected to visit the stalls. According to the programme editor B S Raghuram, BBF-2010 is Asia’s third biggest book fest after the ones at Delhi and Kolkatta. The exhibition features more than 350 book sellers and publishers from across India and multinational publishing houses as well.

The event has been attracting people from all walks of life. Business turnover of Rs 15 crore is expected this year. The festival has a trade area of more than Rs 2,00,000 square feet and an associated area of about 20,000 square feet.

Other features of the exhibition include cultural extravaganza every evening, all book/title launches, inter school/college competitions, felicitation to well-known writers, publishers and industry leaders and prize distribution.

Entry ticket is priced at Rs 20 per person. Students are exempted from paying the entry fee. They should produce valid identity card.
