Adarsh scam: CBI team meets Maha Chief Secy

Last Updated 16 November 2010, 11:40 IST

The three-member team, led by CBI Regional Joint Director Rishi Raj Singh, met Dange at Mantralaya (state secretariat) this afternoon.

"The inquiry is on," Rishi Raj Singh told reporters, adding "it is not appropriate for me to speak in detail on the issue now."

The team will also probe role of serving and retired state government officials in the scam, CBI sources said.

"We have handed over necessary papers to the CBI team. The state government is also of the opinion that the guilty be punished," Dange said.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said CBI should not only act against defence officials in the Adarsh scam but also against civil servants involved in the case.

"I feel that even after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, action was not taken against the officials.

"In this case (Adarsh) however, when the top leader (CM) had to quit, what about the guilty officers," Pawar said.
