The arrested has been identified as Munna Khan. He was nabbed on a tip-off yesterday from Cariappa Marg in Neb Sarai. Thirty-four bottles of Black Label, one carton of Chivas Regal, one carton of Mcdowell No 1 and one carton of Blenders' Pride were recovered from the car which Khan was driving.

Khan allegedly used to take delivery of spurious liquor at a very cheap price from one Jai Prakash Chawla and supply the same to various parts of Delhi. He told police that Chawla allegedly used to refill low-priced liquor in the bottles of expensive brands, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal said.

"At his instance, a raid was conducted at the residence of Chawla but he was not found there. But during the search of his house, huge quantity of liquor were recovered," he said.

"The accused used to refill low-cost Indian whisky in the bottles by mixing them in a certain proportion and sell the same as original Scotch whisky especially of brands like Blue Label, Black Label, Green Label, Red Label and Gold Label.

"They used to perform the same trick in rebottling expensive wines of Moet and Chandon.  All this was carried with the help of sophisticated machines and equipment used for re-corking and resealing.  Even the labels and boxes were specially prepared and printed," Dhaliwal said.
