Put public money to better use

Last Updated 02 July 2009, 14:37 IST

The recent issue of conducting govt meeting at a resort may not go well with many people, who expect government to minimize the expenditure of public money as these meetings at posh resorts may result in huge expenditure to the state exchequer. Although periodical meeting of the people's representatives to discuss the developmental works and their meeting with bureaucrats of the state government are very much essential for any good governance, the cost of conducting such meetings should always be minimum.

The government could have avoided these embarrassments, by conducting such meetings at government offices, as any waste of public money will be glaring misdeeds in the eyes of common man. Any lavish spending of poor taxpayers' money is always hard to defend and may bring disrepute to any government and fodder for the opposition.
