Minor rape: Absconding Borude files anticipatory bail plea

Last Updated 18 November 2010, 13:36 IST

Borude, a police inspector, was dismissed from service yesterday following registration of the offence. His anticipatory bail application will come up for hearing before a sessions court tomorrow. Public prosecutor Mohan Sawant told PTI that prosecution would insist on Borude's presence during the hearing.

Borude has been absconding since the case was registered last week. The victim, a 15-year-old girl, had last week lodged a complaint at the suburban Powai police station alleging that she was raped on several occasions by Borude and some others at a house in Powai in the past one year.

The case came to light after the girl became pregnant and delivered a baby girl. Apart from rape charges, a separate case has also been filed against Borude for trespassing and house breaking as the house where the alleged crime took place had been sealed by a local court in connection with another litigation.
